Health Fund Claims

Attached is a list of health fund claim instructions for individual Health Funds.  This was last updated on 16 May 2017.

It is important that you consult your individual Health Fund before assuming you can claim.  All the funds are different.

All White Dog Studio Receipts contain the following which in most cases is sufficient for a claim.  In those instances where provider numbers have been issued to White Dog, these are also included on all receipts.

  • Providers (PAA full members) Full Name
  • Providers (PAA full members) Practice Address
  • Providers (PAA full members) Association Number
  • Client/Patient Full Name
  • Description of service (itemised)
  • Cost of treatment (less any discounts that may be offered)
  • Amount Due

Australian
Health
Management
(AHM)

ahm members with relevant cover can only claim a benefit towards Pilates if the service is provided by a registered Physiotherapist, or if their cover includes Health Improvement benefit and relevant supporting information is provided to ahm before a claim is made. The ahm Health Improvement form can be completed by a medical or other practitioner and can be found on the ahm website here Health Improvement form

  • ahm no longer require provider numbers to be quoted on receipts
  • Pilates cannot be claimed online, the claim must be sent to ahm by mail or email.

HCF

Pilates is claimable as a Health Management Program for clients with eligible HCF extras cover (please confirm your level of cover and available limits prior to commencement so you are clear about your eligibility to claim).

You must be referred by your GP/Physio/AEP in the first instance. A Pilates exercise program that isn’t delivered by a recognised physiotherapist or Accredited Exercise Physiologist must be claimed using HCF’s Exercise and gym benefits authorization and claim form completed by the relevant medical provider. HCF do not register non clinicians within the Health Management Program, so there is no Provider Number.

CBHS Health
Fund Limited

Pilates now comes under CBHS’ Health Management Program. CBHS members can only claim after they have a Health Management Program Authorisation Form completed by their medical practitioner and submitted to CBHS with their claim. This applies to Pilates, Yoga and personal trainers. The service provided must be to treat or ameliorate a medical condition.

GMF Health
Fund

If you wish to claim via GMF Health Fund, please email info@whitedogstudio.com.au.  We then need to contact the Pilates Alliance and will reply within 7 days with a provider number.

Health Care Insurance
Limited
(HCILTD)

If you wish to claim via Health Care Insurance Limited (HCILTD), please email info@whitedogstudio.com.au.  We then need to contact the Pilates Alliance and will reply within 7 days with a provider number.

NIB

NIB do not issue Pilates Instructors provider numbers. The following information is provided on your receipt which is sufficient for a NIB claim

  • Providers (PAA full members) Full Name
  • Providers (PAA full members) Practice Address
  • Providers (PAA full members) Association Number
  • Client/Patient Full Name
  • Description of service (itemised)
  • Cost of treatment (less any discounts that may be offered)
  • Amount Due

Benefits for Pilates classes From 1 April 2012, we’ll pay a benefit for Pilates classes led by an NIB recognised Pilates instructor under the Healthier Lifestyle benefit. You’ll need to complete a Health Management form and have a health professional like a GP or Physiotherapist to confirm that Pilates is recommended for you as a part of a Health Management Program. You can download the Health Management form now from nib.com.au. Remember, the Healthier Lifestyle benefit has a six month waiting period. You may have already served this waiting period, but give us a call to check. Rest assured, we’ll still pay a benefit for Pilates classes led by a registered physiotherapist, without the need for a form.

Teachers
Federation
Health

Teachers Federation Health do not issue Pilates Instructors with provider numbers.

Pilates classes are paid under TFH’s Healthy Lifestyle Benefits. 

 The following information is provided on your receipt which is sufficient for a TFH claim

  • Providers (PAA full members) Full Name
  • Providers (PAA full members) Practice Address
  • Providers (PAA full members) Association Number
  • Client/Patient Full Name
  • Description of service (itemised)
  • Cost of treatment (less any discounts that may be offered)
  • Amount Due

The Teachers Federation Health client/member would also need to obtain a letter from their GP confirming that attending Pilates classes will help prevent or ameliorate a specific medical condition

Transport
Health

Transport Health do not issue Pilates Instructors with provider numbers.

 The following information is provided on your receipt which is sufficient for a Transport Health claim

HBF Health
Fund

Our Provider Number is pending with HBF Health Fund.

Health
Partners

If you wish to claim via Health Partners, please email info@whitedogstudio.com.au.  We then need to contact the Pilates Alliance and will reply within 7 days with a provider number.

Australian
Unity

Please contact Australian Unity to check whether you may claim for Pilates under your particular insurance package. There is no requirement for instructors to register directly with the fund, however they must be a qualified instructor with a registered business, providing a valid receipt.

Medibank
Private

Unfortunately Medibank do not recognise Pilates Instructors as Ancilliary healthcare providers unless they are a registered physiotherapist as well.
